We aim list on this website an advance program of talks including dates, venues, speakers' biographies and topic outlines. In an ideal world we would like to be able to line up speakers up to a year in advance. It has become evident that modern time pressures and the accelerating pace of change requires us to be more flexible. Here then is an outline of what you can expect the Group to provide in terms of promotion of our technical meetings program.
Meetings will consist of either a Technical Talk or a Site Visit.
- Technical Meetings will generally be held monthly, February through June and September through November of each year.
- Site Visits will usually be arranged for lower mainland locations, although occasionally we may raise one to Field Trip status and actually leave town!
Since we are a multidisciplinary group, topics will not necessarily reflect a deeply technical content but may include the achievements of our membership in local and offshore projects, innovative applications of engineering technology, engineering management, legal and financial advice to engineers, and other professional activities involving engineering principles.
Firm details of upcoming meetings are unlikely to be finalised more than one month in advance of the meeting date Flyers will continue to be mailed to all members who have requested them, about 10 days to two weeks before the meeting. More information:
Members are welcome to bring guests or colleagues from work, subject only to maximum numbers imposed on us by our hosts at site visits.
If you have an interesting product or project at work that you feel our Group members would like to know more about, please don't hesitate to contact the Chairman or any member of the Committee, who can arrange with you a suitable time and date for a talk or tour. Our technical meetings program comprises an eclectic mix of engineering topics as well as general items of interest to engineers, and the Group welcomes a further broadening of its topic base.
